Kathleen (or Kat) grew up on a small, organic, family farm in Indiana. Her family’s menagerie, included cows, chickens, pigs, rabbits, cats, a goat, and a dog.
She graduated from Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana with a B.A. in Peace Studies, and Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She worked as a vet tech in small animal hospitals in Chicago, San Francisco, and the East Bay for 21 years, most recently at Creature Comfort Holistic Veterinary Center in Oakland.
Seeking more fresh air and time outdoors, but not willing to give up working with animals, she swapped scrub tops for hiking boots, and she's been hiking with dogs since 2012. When not roaming the East Bay hills with blissful beasts, Kat can be found at home with her husband Jack, and her pups Easy and Mabel.
